FESTIVAL IMMACULATE 2010
" Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you ." (Luke 1: 26-38).
These words, spoken to Mary, are intended for all humanity represented in her. These words are for us today: " Hail, full of grace, the Lord you're ..."
The Gospel begins by saying: " The angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee ... "The angel can be a metaphor for the closeness of God in our lives ... In fact, the appearance of the angel is a possibility with which every human being has and the angel of God is sent always in those moments of inner silence. The appearance of the angel is an inner experience ... This inner experience of Mary and of each of us can listen to " voce s" that nobody can say to himself: it is, then, to be tuned to a message that exceeds us.
The angel Gabriel begins with a greeting: "Rejoice " favored the Lord is with you . "Rejoice" ( Jaire, kejaritomene ). That "Rejoice", the "Jaire" is much more than "Rejoice", means "leaps for joy, dance, dance, dance to the tambourine" ... Rejoice, rejoice, the Lord is with you. It is a joy misleading, is a joy founded in the certainty of God's love, to feel loved by God . invitation to joy appears 123 times in the New Testament .... That means that the entire Gospel is a message of joy .
" The Lord is with thee." When the angel addresses Mary begins communicating the certainty of God's love: " the Lord is with you ." That is the reason that Mary can exult with joy. " The Lord is with you ." It is the most fundamental experience of all human life. You are not alone / a ... Somebody comes .
" She was troubled at these words ." Really, would be a "shock" to Mary these words, she was shocked, bewildered at his head ... they were very impressed for a young girl. Feeling bewildered, amazed.
not afraid, Mary, has found favor before God "... The angel called her by name: Mary ." Fear not, Mary . The name is of particular importance in biblical culture, is the expression of God's love. God knows each one by name loves us personally. God loves us as the only ... Only God can love well and always that God breaks into our life loves us and says: "Fear not . "frees us forever from our fears. The voice of the angel awakens great confidence in Mary ...
But Mary hears the " God's plan" on her: " conceive in your womb and bear a child. " To Mary, God promises a son who will be called Jesus, which means God saves, God is Savior and salvation means: full life.
Mary feels troubled to the surprise of God is addressed to her announcing her pregnancy , for he asks: "How this be, since no know man? " Mary, woman of faith, he knew the moral standards of his time that prevented the marriage before the wedding. The Annunciation is in this range before they lived together) ...
The promise of the angel to Mary can be fantastic and, therefore, she asks: How can that be? We also sometimes ask ourselves: Can we start a new life? Can we overcome our negative tendencies and open to the tenderness and the desire for happiness within ourselves?
Again, the answer is simple: God will take care of : "The Spirit of the Lord will overshadow . " The Spirit, ie the strong force God will act in your virginal womb. The impossible is made possible ... We also need to remember that the Spirit overshadows us ... We need to renew our confidence that the Spirit is a presence in our lives.
the angel gives Mary a sign: "Behold your cousin Elizabeth, despite her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren " ... (In Israel, being sterile, it was a shame for women). It is a call for total confidence that God can make our lives fruitful sterile (sterile what is in our lives God can fruitful).
Mary responds: " Here is the servant of the Lord, done to me according your word. " Mary expressed her "yes" radical God. This attitude of Mary of total availability and reliability is the God invites us to live. God needs the help of our freedom to do their work in the world.
The Feast of Mary Immaculate, in the middle of Advent, there is a break for it we prepare for the coming of the Lord at Christmas. Mary's testimony highlights what is to prepare the mystery of God incarnate, who is the party of free love of God that renews our hope. Mary accepts the love of God. With Mary, humanity learns to say "Yes" to God.
That today, the feast of the graceful, we renew our own God as Mary, " done to me according to your word ."
