; FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT. CYCLE A
" Stay awake, be ready because when you do not expect is
the" Son of Man " . " (Mt. 24, 37).
A good news to begin this Advent, Good News to begin the liturgical year, " Comes the Son of Man" . "
Who is this "" Son of Man "" coming to meet us? The "Son of Man" is the longing and the world's deepest sleep. The "Son of Man" is the new humanity that has already been done in Jesus is the most successful result of humanity. The Son of Man "is Jesus, full of sense our lives and our history. The Son of Man "is the one we all seek, the only one who can quench the thirst of life we carry deep within our hearts . This is great news, comes the "Son of Man" is the great hope that announces the time of Advent.
Coming "Son of Man "..., there is nothing to fear because he does not come to condemn but to give life, comes to every human being is loved ... If it comes the "Son of Man" will break our chains, He brings true freedom. If is the Son of Man will learn to live as children and vivirnos as siblings. Coming "Son of Man" from " swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks" (Isaiah) ; He is our peace.
Coming "Son of Man is possible to hope for this world, He has overcome and the good life forever ... "He comes But when you do not expect"
Yes, he can come at any moment, any situation, can come in sorrow, in joy, in the dark days and bright days, when we are alone or accompanied, may come in the Word which comes to life in an outstretched hand, in the family which binds more in the patient who suffers, who are unemployed and need our support, the hungry of all the land that question, in every human being ... He always comes. So Jesus says, "Stay awake , be ready ." And to highlight this attitude brings us two examples :
" When comes the" Son of Man "will pass like the days of Noah ... people ate and drank and married ." Bridging the gap of time and place, we can say that our society in general, too, now live a state of being, we live in "welfare society", which proclaims grandly, despite millions of human beings "living in a state of extreme poverty." Today, poverty and its many ramifications, have been present in the West, and social media will also bring us closer to the misery of the population in poor countries. Unconsciousness living in Noah's contemporaries " eating, drinking, marrying, having fun " looks like ours and when least expected, " the flood came and took them all ... " Does not this remind us the deep economic crisis and the values \u200b\u200bwe are going through?
" Understand that if I knew the owner of the house at what time of night the thief was coming he would have watched ..." is the example of the thief who does not give notice and realize that when we opened a gap and has gotten into the house. On Jesus' lips these two examples are no charges but a warning not to live distracted, confused, absent. Sometimes we are distracted from the essential of our lives and do not suspect that life can lived otherwise. Our society has forgotten God that is real necessities.
These two examples emphasize neglect of Noah's contemporaries and master the house, in the unexpected arrival of the flood and the thief and ruin caused by these events, Jesus comes to say: so will the community cristian ay all us if we are careless and do not live in a wait active and engaged. Sometimes, we live like Noah's contemporaries who ate, drank, they married ... but we are coming from outside the and the presence of God in history. We live and work and distract us but we are unaware of the injustice, the longing for peace, lack of solidarity and life that God offers us every moment. In this culture of superficiality is only possible free, reacting with force and learning to live a more lucid , as Saint Paul says: "It is time to awake ..."
All Gospel is a call to hope in the Son of Man "coming , Jesus the Lord of our life . God comes Always, at every moment in our lives.
" Be ye also ready, because when you do not expect is the Son of Man" . " This attitude has much to do with a lifestyle in which we live, every moment, as gift of God, and life opportunities. Do not live drugged by activity or by the "compensation" that do not provide life and meaning and that, ultimately, leave us terribly empty.
Beginning today Advent invites us to renew our hope . We need to urgently renew our hope. We live in a world where there is a darkening of hope. There are many men and women seem disoriented, uncertain, without hope, and many Christians are mired in this state of mind. Our society marked by post-modernity is characterized by nihilism, nothingness, as some have said, "the culture of the great void", which manifests itself on individualism, inconsequential life, apathy, frivolity and the impossibility of utopias. need more than ever, renew our hope. Without hope life turns gray and unbearable. The Advent Time erupts like a night light in our world, is like sunlight at dawn is night but sees a shining light arrives. San Pablo, in the First Reading tells us: " pertrechémonos with light weapons ... conduzcámonos as in the day, with dignity ..."
May this Advent, we begin this Sunday, Today we open our eyes to the light, which is Christ , always comes and renews our lives. May we say: Come, Lord Jesus! We need you to fill our hearts with hope and strength. We must receive your love, your peace and joy. Come, Lord Jesus!
